Role overview

As a Senior CloudOps Engineer at Ilkari, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust, secure, and scalable cloud infrastructure, primarily based on the OpenStack platform. You will play a critical role in ensuring the sovereignty of our clients' data, aligning with our mission to empower enterprises with control over their digital assets. You’ll collaborate across teams to meet business goals efficiently, streamline workflows through automation, and ensure smooth cloud operations.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain scalable and secure OpenStack infrastructure

• Automate infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, and GitOps principles

• Drive containerised workloads on Kubernetes, using tools like Helm, ArgoCD, and Istio

• Own and improve CI/CD pipelines (we use GitLab)

• Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting systems from scratch (Datadog, Elastic Stack)

• Harden systems and lead on cloud security practices

• Troubleshoot complex issues and ensure high system availability

• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making

• Continuously evaluate new tools and propose improvements

• Participate in on-call rotation for critical incidents

What are we looking for

Technical Skills

• Deep hands-on experience with OpenStack (or similar platforms)

• IaC skills (Terraform preferred), strong scripting in Python, Bash, or Go

• Solid Linux knowledge and networking fundamentals

• Cloud-native tooling experience (Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, ArgoCD)

• Experience with monitoring (Datadog) and logging (Elastic Stack)

• CI/CD pipeline design (GitLab preferred)

• Understanding of secure cloud practices and system hardening

Soft Skills

• Ownership mindset and proactive problem-solving

• Strong communication skills, comfortable mentoring others

• Collaborative and adaptable in a high-change environment

Experience

• 5+ years in DevOps, CloudOps, or similar roles

• Experience designing and scaling production cloud environments

• Technical degree or equivalent work experience
